[Theme][GitHub] feedly theme built from scratch

Postby levito » 20 May 2013, 16:06

I have built a Feedly theme after fox included the option to start from scratch (viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2056#p10867)

You need at least version 1.12 or the latest code from GitHub since I don't use the default styles!

Download, fork and contribute here: https://github.com/levito/tt-rss-feedly-theme
For legacy tt-rss v1.8 - v1.11: https://github.com/levito/tt-rss-feedly ... ree/legacy

Features:
  • All layouts and default features are styled
  • Custom icons and controls
  • Styled layers and menu popups
  • Completely themed preferences (claro.css override)
  • Doesn't depend on default TT-RSS styles, so won't break on updates
  • Some tablet optimizations, usable on iPad & co.
  • Tested and working in modern browsers: latest Chrome, Safari, Firefox, IE10
  • Other popular themes are based on this: Chalk and Chalk Improved

New since August 2013: Even more (cool things of) Feedly!
General:
  • New layout, more space-efficient and clean
  • Grouped all toolbar items to be one row on top right
Feed tree:
  • Special styling for special feeds
  • Expand/Collapse + Special feeds category heading styled like Feedly
Collapsed entries
  • Single-line entries
  • Reordered columns for icons on hover
  • Color-coded states: selected, starred and published

Changes in February 2014: Less Feedly, More Comfort
  • Multi-line entries in widescreen mode
  • Ergonomics improved

This is what it looks like (2013):

Have fun!

Very nice but I'm missing the embedded pictures which are not shown in your theme

Could you post a screenshot and description where you expect an embedded picture? All pictures in my feeds show up fine.

Well... this is a screenshot of tt-rss with the original theme showing my post. Sure, the screenshots are missing there. Follow the entry link and go to the tt-rss forum, there you will see what it looks like. Or did I miss something? ;)

You're right. It strange that some pictures are shown and some not. But I'll guess it's not a problem with your theme :)

Edit: Another suggestion: Could you increase the width of the toolbar? I've got 7 toolbarbuttons and it looks a little bit ugly atm.

I think if an image is large enough it's embedded differently. See, you can scroll my screenshots, yours is not scrollable. Images big enough are not included in the rss feed for the forum.

And, by the way: your screenshot still shows the default styles, not my theme.

If you want to use this theme, update to the latest code from GitHub. Place feedly.css into the themes directory and select it under preferences from the theme dropdown.

Hi, I found a small problem with the latest version of your theme: The list of filter in preferences is IMHO nearly unuseable with your theme.

Could you post a screenshot? I don't use filters, so I created a test filter and don't see any issues so far.

As requested the screenshot.

BTW: The feeds list has the same ugly layout which makes usage IMHO very hard

Okay, I'll have a look. I will have to pull in some more default styles. Thanks for your report!

I forgot the styles for labels. So I included them as well and updated the preferences-relevant styles altogether.

Beautiful, thanks.

One small improvement suggestion: in the headline list there is no space between the author and the label, and no space between labels themselves (I am using combined mode with no excerpts). span.HlLabelRef has no margins to left and right.
