‘Preference’ action should be moved up to top right corner

Description

Firs of all I would like to look at the word ‘preference’. Is that an action? I do not thnik so. So it should not be placed under the Actions menu either!

Moving it up along side the user's name and sign-out link would be a better place for it. It could be done like this: Hello, <user> | Log out | Preferences

  • status changed from new to assigned.
  • milestone set to 1.2.17.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Hello, user | Preferences | Logout, seems a bit more logical.

Then you would be placing the user name too far away from the ‘Logout’ link. By doing that users are loosing the context. ‘My name -> Logout, yes that is what I want to do!’ instead of ‘My Name | Preferences -> Logout, huh?’

Logout is most "final" action user can do. Preferences is not, so it has higher "weight". "Hello, user" is not an action at all, it's just an informational prompt, which is marked in a different color. There is no link between the prompt and logout action that I might see.

See ticket #164 as well.

I do agree with you. But trying to follow the user's though, you will see that having logout next to the username makes more sence to the end user.

It is fine either way. Just get the preference option out of the actions menu, and I will be happy. :-P
