[Theme][GitHub] clean-greader - Google Reader inspired

Postby naeramarth7 » 14 Jun 2013, 12:05

I started working on an own Google Reader Theme since the ones available here were broken as of the 1.8 update.
FYI: I am Using the github master of tt-rss.

There are a lot of old Google Reader user out there who are missing the look and feel of our favorite news reader for years, so I decided to share my work.
As of 2013/08/29 the theme is build from scratch to be independent from changes to the tt-rss default.css.

You can get the theme from GitHub.

This is what it looks like (2013-08-29 | tt-rss v1.9):

Think your screenshot is busted.

This sounds interesting.
Please provide us with a screenshot. You could store it on github and also link to it in the readme.

Thanks guys! I fixed the URL for the preview image.

The theme changed a bit since the screenshot was taken - unfortunately my server is down at the moment (I'm moving flat) so I'll provide a new one and also new updates when I'm online again (:

How to configure TTR to see only one post content and only title of all other (like on your preview image)?

Have you tried the "combined feed display" option as mentioned on GitHub?

Thank you for the awesome theme!

One issue so far when you are in the options:
The buttons look like this
Image
as opposed to
Image

so I commented out this part in the main.css

Code: Select all

.claro .dijitToolbar .dijitButton .dijitButtonNode .dijitButtonContents {
  background-image: url("../clean-greader-img/leftright.jpg");
  background-repeat: no-repeat;
  background-size: 20px;
  content: url("../clean-greader-img/blank_icon.gif");
  margin: 0 8px;
  opacity: 0.4;
  outline: none;
  position: relative;
  top: 2px;
}

Thanks, zed! I changed this css part so it is only applied on the tt-rss main-page and not on the settings anymore.

Code: Select all

body#ttrssMain.claro .dijitToolbar .dijitButton .dijitButtonNode .dijitButtonContents {

In the latest commit I also resized the toolbar - hope it fits your needs a bit more? (:
I also used the few minutes I (still without internet connection in my new flat *sigh*) to update the preview. Hope you enjoy the changes (:

Love the plugin, with one minor exception that I am hoping someone might be able to help me tweak:

Is it possible to always push the next article to the top of the screen (like the default theme does), rather than moving the focus down the page when I reach the end of unread articles? I use a portrait monitor where this change is more obvious, and I find I prefer to park my eyes in one spot and let the articles move to the top.

Happy to explain more if that doesn't make sense. Thanks so much for the theme!!
