Since 1.11 starred / published feeds are invalid

Hi,

I updated from 1.10 to 1.11 on 25th. Since that day the starred and published feeds contain a newline at the beginning of the XML... or anything else is wrong... no browser (Firefox, Chrome, IE) will display them, all complain about wrong characters in line 2 (which is the first line with text in it and contains the xml charset stuff).

This is bad for me, because since that day my ifttt.com rule to add stared articles to my pocket account does not work anymore.

I already tried to disable all plugins, because I read somewhere that this might help with the feeds... but that did not help. (I could not disable the "note" plugin though. Don't know why that is.)

Any idea why that issue popped up? Or is this a regression in 1.11 and I should switch back to 1.10?

Check for blank lines in config.php outside of <?php ... ?> tags.

If this forum is any indication, most of the regressions are between the ears of people reporting them.

Ah, ok.. there was a newline there. Thanks for the hint.
Is that in the FAQ? I did not find it there... but now you mention it, I already heard that solution somewhere...

This was probably caused by the software requiring me to edit a config file adding some default. :p
Just because I upgraded... and refusing to work at all if I would not do that... that's not really user friendly. You can't really complain about user failing to use your software, if you do such things. Probably there is no way around that in php, I don't know... Can't parameters that are not present be filled with a default value?

Don't post here anymore.

Might help to remove the closing ?> from the config.php template altogether. That way, at least the trailing newline problem is a thing of the past.

EDIT: Yep, about 10 days too slow :)

Hi. I'm also trying to use IFTTT with my starred articles RSS feed but when I create the recipe I get a "Not a valid feed url, missing feed title" error. I've tried disabling all user plugins (and the note plugin) as well as checking for any blank lines outside of <?php ... ?> tags in config.php (of which there are none). I've also tried generating a new URL. Issue applies to published feeds as well. Any suggestions? Using TT-RSS v1.11.

Cheers,
Shannon

Here you go. Feed loads fine in a browser but I get the error in IFTTT.

Hi Fox. Just wondering if there's an update to this?

Cheers

It passes the W3C RSS validator. My guess is that IFTTT doesn't like your invalid SSL certificate.

Yeah, this could be it I guess. Sorry I didn't think about the certificate just checked whether the contents looked okay.

Thanks guys. After reading your posts I did some testing and it does look like it's cert related. IFTTT are looking into it but I'm not holding my breath. I'll report back if there's anything.

Just out of curiosity, is anyone on the form using a properly signed SSL cert and the feed channel on IFTTT? I'm considering buying one if it fixes the problem. Any free testing certs (eg Thawte etc) still have the same problem.
