I'm waiting for some poor soul to write an implementation for it I could easily snatch and integrate.

If I go into a submenu, then there is an animated circle appears, indicating that the wait (that's okay). When the contents of the article is loading, it has a different type of circle animation, which indicates that the wait (it is also okay). But in no way is no indication when the application starts for the first time, but there is a dark gray box is empty.

Next version which may or may not be live on android market atm is going to have exact same 4 variants of sorting as tt-rss proper:
...
Not really sure if it helps or not.

I think it has a bug. Example I have 3 feeds with 10 new articles with broken down as follows: 3 - 3 - 4

I see the following sorting (Oldest first):

article1 from feed1 08:00
article2 from feed1 09:05
article3 from feed1 10:10
article1 from feed2 08:01
article2 from feed2 09:11
article3 from feed2 10:01
article1 from feed3 08:06
article2 from feed3 08:20
article3 from feed3 09:45
article4 from feed3 10:50

The required sorting (Oldest first):

article1 from feed1 08:00
article1 from feed2 08:01
article1 from feed3 08:06
article2 from feed3 08:20
article2 from feed1 09:05
article2 from feed2 09:11
article3 from feed3 09:45
article3 from feed2 10:01
article3 from feed1 10:10
article4 from feed3 10:50

The Android app is grouping the articles by feeds, regardless of when the articles. I tried all options in the sorting menu.

There's i'm afraid no oldest first variant which ignores feed batching. Neither in tt-rss proper nor on android. There was a huge slapfight about it, it should be somewhere in the bistro.

You can longtap on feeds just as you always could. It's just the : icon that is no longer there because it looked dumb.

e: if you have ideas on how to make this function more discoverable without placing that dumb : thing on the feedlist, I'm all ears.

Based on the way the new drawer works, I'm not sure there is. Thanks for pointing it out.

Noted. And yes, the workflow you mentioned (save it for later) is exactly how I've been using it.. I dislike reading webpages via my phone, so I skim through the crap, but if there's one that I want to check out on my PC later (long article, embeded video, etc), I've just been marking it unread. Do you envision that is what 'starred' articles are for, rather than marking as unread?

Yep. the whole mark as unread thing is retarded.

"oh i wanted to read this thing later.. wait fuck there's 500 new articles in this category, where is it???"

"oh i wanted to read this later... wait i accidentally scrolled past this page and it auto marked as read again"

Perplexing shit. And yet, people apparently consider it a logical thing to do. Well, not in my fucking app they won't.

After giving it a try for some versions now, I went back to an older version (1.3X).

The back button behaviour is total crap, when checking some feeds I constantly exit the app. Please give an option to disable the drawer and get the old behaviour back, I don't mind a full screen list of feeds and categories, if I at least get intuitive navigation.

This might work if you are only looking at the combined output of all your feeds, but that's not what RSS is about. I want to be able to easily check single feeds in different categories without having to swipe in drawers and look for "show parent" buttons.

Yeah, it's a legit bug, I'll see what I can do.

Talking about starred items... I don't seem to get them to show up anymore. Shouldn't it be choosing 'Show all Feeds' from the top right, 'Special' and 'starred Items' as Category? Or am i missing a step?

Actually it would be nice if they showed up directly as a 'Special' sub-category without having to do all the switching, as starred items are read, normally.

yeah I guess showing unread feeds always within Special category is a good idea as it should work the same as tt-rss proper which does that.

e: well technically it is an option in tt-rss but lol adding options for this shit on android.

thanks a lot.

OT: that's something even "tt-rss proper" could do better: switching between unread regular items and read starred items. being the lazy me i am, i end up leaving the option to 'show all' so i don't have to switch back and forth.
