IRC not connecting

Postby geniodiabolico » 07 Jan 2015, 23:45

I've been using and liking TT-RSS so on a lark I tried to set up IRC. I am attempting to connect to my local hackerspace's IRC server, and it is not connecting. I keep getting the logs below. I tried connecting to Freenode and I could use it just fine there, so my basic setup is working. The server I'm trying to reach is irc.subproto.com:7000 . I can connect with the same nickname via Adium, and I tried to clone the parameters precisely between the two setups. Using SSL in both. It looks like something is hitting a 60 second timeout in there but I don't have any insight into it.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

This is the exact same Problem I faced today. I thought it'd be just a misconfiguration (maybe in TTIRC or even in my ZNC).
Did you try to change the IRC Library? I didn't try it yet, but maybe the API changed.
There are a few NPE Catch Phrases in the Sourcecode, but I'm not really into it now

I will see if I can talk to the administrator tomorrow. He might be able to provide me with the logs from the server side, if that helps. I did not try to change the library. I downloaded the newest one from the pointers provided. Is there an exact version that it should be?

I am told that this problematic IRC server uses a self-signed SSL cert. Any chance that is what is causing the connection to abort? Is there a way to make the logging more verbose?

Then add the self signed SSL cert to your Java Truststore: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3732 ... file-using
