Feed item headlines

Postby mimox » 21 May 2010, 21:25

I am a very happy tt-rss online user for a few days now. However there are some problems with the software.

For example, see http://ur1.ca/02k99

The headlines of the feed items of Planet GNOME (http://planet.gnome.org/) get messed up... somehow the name of the blog is appended directly to the headline. This does not happen in Google Reader for example.

Can it be fixed?

It works fine to me. Your entire layout looks kinda weird though. It might be a good idea to specify your internet browser name/version.

Sorry for not responding sooner.

Did you try the Planet GNOME feed and does it look correctly for you?

I use Chrome 5 (and 6) here.

Yes I did try it and yes it works fine (in Chrome 6.0). Try setting the default theme in tt-rss, resetting your settings, etc.

I am using the default theme now, still see the same problem.

Only with http://planet.gnome.org/atom.xml though, I think.

Well, this is how atom feed looks for me:

2.png

Am I missing something here?

Ed: are you using simplepie or magpie? try switching to the other one.

I am using the "Compact" theme and have "Show content preview in headlines list" off, which should explain why my list looks a bit different.

However, your screenshots actually show the same problem!

Look at poste number 3 and 4 on 2.png for example. Titles are "www" and "gnome summer of code goes sailing". Appended to the title is the blog name (daniel g. siegel). Same for the other items.

Here's another example straight from the ATOM:

<entry xml:lang="en">
<id>http://blogs.gnome.org/nacho/?p=111</id>
<link href="http://blogs.gnome.org/nacho/2010/06/11/gsoc-weekly-report-3/" rel="alternate" type="text/html"/>
<title>GSoC weekly report 3</title>
...
<source>
<id>http://blogs.gnome.org/nacho</id>
<link href="http://blogs.gnome.org/nacho/feed/" rel="self" type="application/rss+xml"/>
<link href="http://blogs.gnome.org/nacho" rel="alternate" type="text/html"/>
<subtitle>Just another GNOME Blogs weblog</subtitle>
<title>Nacho's Blog</title>
<updated>2010-06-11T14:21:44Z</updated>
</source>

TT-RSS shows the item as "GSoC weekly report 3Nacho's Blog" so the source <title> is appended to the entry title without any separator.

So they have multiple title elements? Magpie could theoretically choke on that. Try using simplepie, that could help.

Two libraries tt-rss uses to parse rss. Google has more information.

You can switch between them in the feed editor (f e).

Looks good now. Only affected feeds seem to be the Planet* ones.
